Bad Buchau (Druckversion)

The prehistoric pile dwellings in the region of the Alps are among the most important archaeological sources of early human history.
Four of the most important fenland Settlements in the immediate vicinity of Lake Federsee were declared World Heritage Sites by UNECSO in 2011.

Ever since the Stone Age, People have repeatedly come to the shores of Lake Federsee, setting up their tents and huts here, and later building villages fortified with palisades. Hunters and gatherers, fishermen and farmers - all have benefited from the riches of nature here, with ist many plants and animals. Traces of their lives can still be found today, sunk in the boggy ground.
